This book was so scary to me (I was a kid), but I couldn't put it down. I would read it under my covers with a flashlight when I was supposed to be going to sleep. I haven't read it since then but it was an interesting book for me then.
I think I need to read this in one go as it just doesn't capture my imagination. It needs too much concentration and too be honest can't be bothered with the main character. Quite like the magical realism elements of the story, but just doesn't hang well enough together for me to be able to continue.
I probably would have liked this more if I had read it before reading If I Stay; instead, I just kept wanting it to be If I Stay, haha. I still really enjoyed it, though. I usually have a hard time liking a character if I don't connect with them right away, but, despite not really liking her in the beginning, Sam totally grew on me.
