FRANCES FARMER: 1913-1970 Frances Farmer was a successful screen and stage actress in Hollywood and Broadway in the 1930s and 1940s. There have been numerous storys about her life, many of which were false accounts. What a better way to learn more about her than by reading her own side of the story. What could drive a person to feel this way?: "I preferred, and still do, cold calculation to compassion." This book grabs you in the first page and won't let go until you've finished. It can be a bit hard to read sometimes if you stop to think about the abuse she suffered, but if you are at all familiar with the 'mental health' system from that era you won't be too surprised. I really would recommend that you read this book, if for nothing more than to make you remember how good most people have things.
