This book, I just... loved it. Mercy's struggle in the aftermath of her attack was the highlight of the book for me. Sure, the vampire thing was cool and creepy and I loved that Adam's pack isn't peachy-keen fine with the way Adam brought her into it, but Mercy's panic attacks and the way she expects that things will magically get better once she talks about them... it rang true. I've mentioned before that I adore the secondary characters in this series. What Marsilia put Stefan through was brutal. Her reasoning behind it was twisted and cruel. The way Stefan's storyline is progressing, I keep wondering how he's going to fit into Mercy's world later. It seems like everything of importance has been brutally ripped away from him. Including his chance with Mercy. Admittedly, he was pretty slow out of the gate telling her that she means more to him than she knew and that boat has sailed at this point, but he's even lost the connection they were forced to forge to keep her safe from Blackwood. I feel for the guy. As always, I loved Adam and his wolves, the fae, and the world that Patrica Briggs has created. This series just keeps getting better and while the world is complex and full of life, the stories are ultimately about how Mercy fits in with everything around her and how she's become an unwitting hero in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. -Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal
